Wallace Monument

The monument is a a prominent tower located on the Abbey Craig which commemorates Sir William Wallace, one of Scotland's most revered national heroes. It serves not only as a tribute to Wallace’s bravery and leadership but also as a symbol of Scottish national pride and identity, inaugurated in 1869, the monument stands at 67 meters tall and is designed in a Gothic style.

Offering stunning views taking in Stirling Castle and  the surrounding landscape, including the site of the Battle of Stirling Bridge where Wallace achieved a significant victory in 1297 The monument features a museum dedicated to Wallace's life and legacy, showcasing artefacts and exhibits that highlight Scotland's struggle for freedom. A complimentary shuttle bus takes you up the hill to the monument, for those who don’t want or can’t manage the staircase to the very top, there is a somewhere for you to sit in comfort and discover all its history, whilst others ascend the 242 steps.
