Overview

Immerse yourself in Scottish history with this inspiring tour to the Heart of Scotland. If we were to be completely honest with you, there’s enough going on in Stirling that you could easily spend the whole day there.

Perched on top of a volcanic outcrop Stirling Castle is not to be missed. Depending on your interest and engagement you can spend anything from 90 minutes to 3 hours or more, there are many nooks and crannies to discover and interesting things to find. Guides, who are included in your visit to the Castle,  are light hearted, extremely knowledgable and a credit to this fantastic destination.

Adjacent to the Castle is the Church of the Holy Rude with its Gothic architecture, also the Old Town Jail, which you can select as an optional stop, there are a few pubs and eateries in the vicinity. Taking your “breath away” could be an apt description of the Wallace Monument, take the complimentary bus to the base of the monument that offers fantastic views toward Stirling Castle and the surrounding hills, once there and if you have the desire and energy and fancy the challenge then 246 steps of the memorial awaits, you will be further gifted by the unspoilt views that the extra elevation affords you.

Bannockburn Heritage Centre is a short drive from the Castle, Bannockburn itself played a significant role in Scotland’s rich history.

On the homeward drive you have the option of stopping at several stunning structures for you to admire, namely, the Kelpies, Forth Rail Bridge, the Falkirk Wheel (ride on or just viewing).

Falkirk is also home to Rosebank Distillery,  a Lowland Single Malt producer, that was founded in 1840 by James Rankine. The distillery closed in 1993 but was revived in 2017 by Ian Macleod Distillers after undergoing a total and spectacular refurbishment.
